The Malaysian Government is set to combat the issue of ticket scalping in the country.
Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching recently revealed that her ministry will hold further discussions with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) as well as relevant parties to address the growing problem, after the public express ire over such occurrences in recent months.
“KPDN is currently reviewing the matter, including the possibility of introducing a Bill to address it. The Communications Ministry has also engaged with event organisers and ticketing companies to find the most suitable solution,” Teo said.
She also stated that the MCMC has had a meeting with KPDN back on 1 August where they reviewed other countries’ anti-scalping law and practices.

Concertgoers recently took to social media to express their ire over G-Dragon’s “Ubermensch” tickets selling out, with many stating that they had to purchase the tickets five times its original price from scalpers just to get the chance to see the rapper live in action.
The anger was further fuelled by another incident involving My Chemical Romance’s April 2026 concert, when the first show’s 60,000 tickets were snapped up within four hours, only to later be offered on online sites with a hefty price.
In one case, a RM499 ticket was resold at a steep price of RM6,000.
