Huang Zitao’s camp has recently dismissed rumours that the singer and wife Xu Yiyang have secretly begotten a child.

Rumours of a secret child sparked recently, when paparazzi snapped photos of Xu’s mother entering the couple’s residence with a baby in her arms. While some questioned whether Xu has secretly given birth to a child, others speculated that the couple might have had their child via surrogacy, which is illegal in China.

In response to the rumours, the couple’s agency released their legal statement saying that Tao and his wife have not committed any illegal acts.

“As law-abiding citizens and public figures with a sense of social responsibility, Huang Zitao, Xu Yiyang and the company always abide by national laws and regulations, adhere to the bottom line of social morality and professional ethics, firmly oppose any form of surrogacy, firmly support the relevant laws and policies of the country that prohibit surrogacy, and set an example by actively fulfilling their civic obligations and social responsibilities.”

They also strongly condemned the actions of paparazzi snooping and taking pictures of Tao’s mother-in-law, saying that it is a violation of privacy.

“Whether to make private life public is a decision made by the artistes themselves, and the outside world should not speculate or over-interpret at will,” they added.

However, some netizens pointed out that the statement did not deny the possibility of the baby being the couple’s child.

It is noted that rumours of Xu’s pregnancy sparked as early as August last year, after she was said to have had a prenatal checkup in the US. However, the singer had since appeared on many livestreams with no apparent signs of pregnancy.
