Just like mothers of other tween daughters, Huang Yi (aka Crystal Huang) is also facing the dilemma of supporting her child’s dream.

The actress recently shared a video of her and her 12-year-old daughter Duoduo having a discussion during a meal at home, where Duoduo candidly expressed her lack of interest in studying and instead dreams of becoming a K-pop trainee.

The video started with Huang Yi asking why Duoduo dislikes studying, to which she responded, “The atmosphere at school makes me unhappy. It feels outdated and fake, like everyone is a robot.”

She said that she longed to shine on the stage and wanted to go to Korea to be a trainee.

Huang then used Han Geng, the former Super Junior member, as an example of the challenges of being a K-pop trainee, and stated, “Han Geng said that he danced until his ribs were broken and he didn’t notice it at all until it was healed. That shows how harsh a training could be.”

However, despite Huang Yi’s words, her daughter remained firm, saying that she wants to experience it herself and that she has already researched everything she needs, including the fact that two million people competed to get the 75 spots in SM Entertainment.

When asked if she could handle public scrutiny and criticism, she responded without hesitation: “I don’t care what others think. If I’m not good enough, I’ll improve and become stronger.”

Huang Yi then admitted that she felt conflicted as a mother, unsure whether to fully support her daughter’s dream or serve as a voice of reason reminding her of reality.
