Despite being in his 70s, Jackie Chan recently said that he has no plans to stop doing his own stunts.
The action star recently shared as much with Haute Living, saying that doing his own stunts has always been who he is as an actor and that “it is not changing until the day I retire.”
Which is never, he continued, adding that after 64 years of doing the same thing, it becomes muscle memory.
“In the old days, the only [choice we had] was to be there and jump; that’s it. Today, with computers, actors can do anything, but there’s always a sense of reality that you feel is missing,” he said.
Jackie called it a double-edged sword, saying that technology helps actors become more capable of doing impossible stunts, but at the same time, the concept of danger and limit becomes a blur to the audience and numbs them.
“But I’m not encouraging anybody to risk their lives to do the stunts like I did; it truly is too dangerous.”
The actor will be seen next in “Karate Kid: Legends”, which will be released on 30 May.
