Another actor has announced his retirement, as Xu Peng, who has worked in dramas like “The Legend of Zhuohua” and “Who Rules the World”, revealed that he is returning to his hometown to continue his grandfather’s small business.

The actor, who graduated from the Central Academy of Drama, revealed that he was heartbroken by the unspoken rules of the industry and did not want to compromise himself. Thus, he decided to live for himself at the age of 29.

In a recent Weibo post, Xu stated that he has always reminded himself to act well and be a person who is worthy of himself and everyone, and to succeed only through hard work. However, he has also experienced many instances when he received a role but was replaced by another soon after.

“I will feel lost, but not sad, because I know that this is the norm. This is how the industry is. There are thousands of colleagues experiencing the same thing, but I just don’t understand why there are so many force majeures. The most terrifying thing is that this kind of force majeure is not just once. When you experience this kind of thing over and over again, it’s like riding a roller coaster. You will really feel discouraged,” he said.

Xu said that he often asked himself if he should continue on and try his best for other opportunities.

“Looking back now, I have hardly stayed at home since I went to college. I have been wandering outside for 11 years. This year I moved all my things back to my hometown. I thought, should I start a small business? Or find a class to take? It may be boring, but at least I won’t be unhappy. Life is not only about the road ahead. Roll down the window and look at the scenery along the way. You will gain different beauty,” he expressed.
