After previously posting a scathing comment about Keung To, Wong Jing is now rolling back his words by claiming that his criticism was not towards the MIRROR member but others who made the singer a top star.
In a Weibo post that he shared on 13 April following his previous deleted rant, the filmmaker said that he removed the post because Keung To is not the one in the wrong. His “rampant capital interests” and “aunties fans” are.
“The top stars in Hong Kong in the past were Sam Hui, Alan Tam, Leslie Cheung, Anita Mui, Jacky Cheung, and Eason Chan. But now, we have elevated someone of this level to the position of ‘top-tier’. No wonder Mainland China’s 1.3 billion people laugh at Hong Kong, declaring that its entertainment industry is dead,” he posted.

Wong said that he does hope that the singer will one day become a talented singer, dancer, and have a strong physique, and truly possess the qualities of a “top star”.
“Even Andy Lau once admitted people said he couldn’t sing or act, but through tireless effort, he became an eternal icon. Leslie Cheung and Nicholas Tse also grew into superstars despite facing endless boos and criticism at the start. I sincerely hope that one day, I will be able to genuinely call this young man a top-tier star. (If I’m still alive by then),” he added.
The filmmaker was previously blasted by netizens after scolding Keung To for “being promoted to a ridiculously high status that is entirely disproportionate to his actual abilities”.
