Viann Zhang (Zhang Xinyu) recently took to Weibo to warn fans of some businesses stealing her likeness to sell products.

As reported on Sohu, on 17 April, the actress posted a message on Weibo, saying that some brands have used AI to copy her voice and even edited her into advertising videos illegally.

This includes an ad for weight-loss drugs.

“I think this is a very bad behaviour. I would like to make it clear that I have never recommended any diet pills. If a business uses AI to illegally edit and place ads, I will definitely investigate to the end,’ she added.

In the comment section, many netizens said that they had seen similar videos before and it was easy to be deceived if they did not look carefully.

The misuse of AI by companies has been a huge topic among netizens. Last week, Dilraba Dilmurat’s fans slammed an online short drama for using the technology to generate her image onto another actress.

Prior to that, Louis Koo and Raymond Lam’s images were generated to promote an online casino gaming.
