Deng Lun has set tongues wagging when he suddenly opened up a new social media account nearly three years since he was banned for tax evasion.

The actor, who was rumoured to be making a comeback after appearing on a fashion magazine (but not showing his face), was found to have a new account on Douyin, which was verified with a yellow V symbol and marked as “an actor”.

His profile introduced himself as a graduate of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and shared a photo of a bowl of glutinous rice balls on Lantern Festival.

It was the only post he has for the time being.

The account marked him as an actor

The post and the previous fashion shoot sparked rumours that Deng is ready to return to the limelight. Back in March 2022, the actor apologised after being notified by the tax authorities of tax evasion, saying that he is willing to take all responsibilities.

Immediately, both his Weibo and his studio’s Weibo accounts were banned on the same day, and the actor lost all his endorsement deals.
