Having been away from social media for the past three years, Zhao Wei recently posted for the first time on Weibo to mourn the loss of her mentor, romance writer Chiung Yao.

Sharing her feelings on the platform on 4 December, she wrote, “The Yangtze River flows eastward, and the waves wash away all heroes. Success and failure are all in vain. The green mountains are still there, and the sunset is red again.”

It is noted that Zhao has not posted anything on Weibo since the ban against her was lifted up by the said social media platform.

The actress faced a ban by the government back in August 2021, an action that is still a mystery to fans worldwide. Some speculated that it had something to do with several controversies including her links to Jack Ma and Alibaba.

Zhao found global stardom following her performance in the 1998 drama, “My Fair Princess”, based on the novel written by Chiung Yao. The writer passed away on 4 December in a suspected suicide.
