The Hong Kong’s Motion Picture Industry Association has recently selected the Sandra Ng-starrer, “Zero to Hero” as their representative film for the 94th Academy Awards’ Best International Feature race.

As reported on Mingpao, the association shared the news recently, saying that the decision was made after deliberating on various films that were released since January, with the said movie receiving the majority of votes.

Following the news, Sandra couldn’t help but express her elation – saying that she has never dreamed that a movie of hers, especially one that she produced, would represent Hong Kong at the Oscars.

“The news is honestly more surprising than joyful. It was only after the shock that I was crying in happiness,” she said.

On the other hand, Paralympic gold medalist So Wa Wai, whose life story became the inspiration for the movie, stated that he was thankful for the choice.

“I didn’t expect that after being in the sports circle for 21 years, I would suddenly be in the movie cycle. Apart from running, I don’t have many other special talents. Running has taught me a lot. It taught me to persevere and to learn to be grateful,” he said.

It is noted that earlier this year, Derek Tsang’s movie “Better Days” made it to the top five in the Best International Film category at the 93rd Academy Awards, though lost to Denmark’s “Another Round”.
