Anita Mui’s eldest brother Mui Kai Ming was enraged over news that the body of his late mother, Tam Mei Kam aka Mother Mui, has already been cremated.
It was on 19 September that the Hong Kong media reported about Mother Mui’s funeral, which was revealed to have been held quietly on that date. It was also reported that her body was cremated at the Fu Shan Crematorium in Tai Wai, with her close friend Poon Siu Man and a group of close family members and friends coming to bid her goodbye.
When asked to comment about the funeral, Mui Kai Ming expressed surprise over the news, revealing that he was completely unaware of the arrangements.
“I didn’t know. I absolutely had no idea,” he exclaimed, according to HK01.
It is noted that Mui had previously threatened to apply for a court injunction in hopes of preventing his mother’s body from being cremated.
When asked what he will do next now that the cremation has already happened, he responded, “I’m going to sue this person for murder. I am suing him directly!”
As to whom he is talking about, he responded, “The nephew. Who else?”
He also angrily declared that he will be taking legal action against the police as well for allegedly lying to him and telling him that all of his mother’s belongings were in police custody. He added that if everything were with the police, including Mother Mui’s ID card, the other party should not have been able to make funeral arrangements.
Prior to this, Mui had been adamant about wanting to hold a grand funeral for Mother Mui. However, he was unable to answer questions as to the source of the money for the supposed funeral he was planning.
