Milet (stylised as milet) recently opened up about her condition, saying that the reason for her hiatus last year was actually due to her struggle with depression.
The singer-songwriter, who appeared as a guest on the music programme “Yoru no Oto TOKYO MIDNIGHT MUSIC” on 15 September, shared that she was diagnosed with the mental health condition after having worked steadily since her debut.
“I’ve been running at full speed for the past 5 or 6 years since my debut, and I’ve been writing and singing songs without really looking back. But about a year before I took a break, I started to feel like my body wasn’t moving as freely as it used to, so I went to the hospital and they told me I had depression,” she said.
She revealed that her mind and body had reached a limit to the extent that she couldn’t even speak properly or get out of bed at all.
“The team decided that it would be best for me to take a break, so I decided to take some time off,” she added.
milet also stated that she felt anxious during her hiatus, especially after seeing artistes releasing songs one after the other.
However, when she resumed her activities and started making music again after a long time, the singer realised that songwriting has actually been her greatest pleasure.
“Depression is really tough, and even now I still experience relapses,” she said, describing her current situation. “But each time, I find encouragement in my own songs. I’ve recently been able to rediscover my own strengths, and I feel like I’m filled with energy right now, wanting to sing and write songs again.”
