Michelle Wai’s husband Dr. Kenley Chau has recently updated fans on the actress’ condition on social media, following previous reports that the actress had to undergo surgery for an injury to her mouth and lips.

On 1 August, Dr. Kenley posted that he was writing on his wife’s behalf to update fans on the situation, and revealed that the accident occurred on 30 July while Michelle was filming her new drama, “Lies Hunter”.

He stated that the actress sustained a cut on her upper left lip from shattered glass, and that the injury involved both the skin and the vermilion of her lip. He said that a blood vessel was severed, and there was also a muscle laceration, resulting in significant bleeding at the scene.

“As the wound was deep and fragments of glass remained embedded in it, the doctors arranged for her to undergo surgery after she was admitted to the hospital. The procedure was performed under monitored anaesthesia… and the medical team successfully removed multiple pieces of glass. As the injury affected both the inner and outer layers of tissue, the wound required meticulous suturing, which resulted in a relatively large number of stitches,” he continued.

Dr. Kenley assured that his wife is currently in a stable condition, and is undergoing antibiotic treatment to prevent inflammation and infection. Michelle has since been discharged and is recuperating at home, having suspended her professional commitments.
