Katy Kung surprised many recently by announcing that she has cut ties with KEW+, the restaurant that she and her friends launched a few years ago.
On 13 July, she posted a note from the law firm Wong & Tang Solicitors to KEW+, which stated that their client has terminated any and all direct and indirect legal relationships with the brand and any brands associated with it with effect from 23 January 2025.
It also added that Katy shall bear “no legal liability” for any “acts, omissions, defaults, or negligence” committed or to be committed by the owner of the brand, any associated brands, and/or their employees, agents, contractors, or licensees.
It is worth noting that this announcement seems to be related to the breakdown of her friendship with her business partner and Japanese confectionery maker Tetsuya Matsuoka.
Katy and her friends jointly invested in KEW+ back in August 2023. The restaurant has since opened branches in Tsim Sha Tsui, Wai Fong and Kowloon Tong.
