Following rumours that he will no longer work for TVB, Eric Tsang’s departure from the network was finally announced at the 2025 TVB Anniversary Awards.
The acting icon-turned-TVB General Manager shared the news while accepting the newly-created Legendary Achievement Award from TVB Executive Chairman Thomas Hui, who presented the award alongside Eric’s long-time good friend Alan Tam.
He said, “Over the past five years, with everyone’s support, our programmes were loved and enjoyed. That’s what made me happiest. Today, I feel I’ve somewhat run out of ideas, and it’s time to step down to let the younger generation I’ve worked with carry on, to elevate TVB and shoulder this responsibility.”

However, this does not mean that Eric is moving away fully from the broadcaster, as it was revealed that he will be a part of TVB’s new advisory committee.
Eric was announced as the new TVB Deputy General Manager back in 2021 as an attempt from TVB to revive its popularity with the masses. In September the same year, he was promoted to General Manager overseeing major content operations.
