After being on hiatus for the past decade, Sherming Yiu finally decided to make her TV comeback with the new HOY TV drama, “Kowloon My City”.

The actress had previously stepped away from acting to focus on her marriage and family after marrying her non-showbiz husband and welcoming their daughter. She shared that she decided to join the project for several reasons. Sherming was deeply moved by her character in the new drama and felt a strong connection to the role. She also has an existing relationship with the production team, which made the project more appealing. Additionally, with her daughter now grown up, the timing felt right for her to resume her acting career.

“This drama only has ten episodes, and the filming period wasn’t very long. My daughter is already 10 years old now. When she was just a few years old, I couldn’t bear to leave her. I was always reluctant for her to grow up. Even now, she still sleeps hugging me, pushing her dad away so she can sleep with me,” she said.

After dating her husband, Alan Ng, for ten years before marrying, she was already 41 when she gave birth to her daughter. Sherming admitted that her parents’ divorce had more or less influenced her, making her particularly cautious about marriage.

“I married later. I think it all influenced me. I grew up in a single-parent family and didn’t want to get married too young… I learned everything through trial and error. I thought that If I had a child, I’d give them more love and teach them myself. I was very focused on taking care of my daughter for the first few years. I certainly don’t want her to make any mistakes. If she has any problems, I want her to tell me. I hope to accompany her as a mother and a friend as she grows,” she said.

It is noted that Sherming’s last drama before her long hiatus was a guest role in “Love In Time”.
