Following the backlash against their decision to continue with a fan meeting involving actor Kim Soo-hyun, Taiwan’s 7-Eleven has now announced that the event is now cancelled.
The announcement was made by President Chain Store Corp., the organiser of the three-day Sakura Festival, in a Facebook post on 25 March, saying that the actor will not be attending due to a change in his schedule.
However, the event, which is scheduled to be held on 30 March, will go on as planned sans the fan meeting. Those who have purchased tickets for the fan meeting can ask for a full refund beginning 31 March.
Meanwhile, Kim’s agency, Gold Medalist, stated, “Due to safety reasons, Mr. Kim Soo-hyun’s schedule for the brand event in Taiwan has been postponed.”
The development came as many other brands and studios began to detach themselves from the actor, who was accused of dating the late Kim Sae-ron back when she was just a minor. The actress’ parents also accused Gold Medalist, which was established by the actor, of mishandling their daughter’s affairs since the DUI incident in 2022.
