The production company behind Fan Chengcheng’s new song has dismissed allegations that the song, “Skyfall”, plagiarised another song of the same name by Xu Minghao (aka The8).
Earlier, netizens claimed that the two songs share numerous similarities in title, music video visuals and poster design, sparking widespread discussion and scepticism.
The copying accusations came due to the fact that Xu’s song was released in May 2025, while Fan’s own song was only launched in early September.
In response to the allegations, on 3 October, Fan’s production company stated that the song was completed in February 2025.
“The concept, simply put, is ‘falling from the sky.’ Therefore, we believe there is nothing wrong with depicting the sky and showing a person falling. We have never encountered any other similar works before,” the company added.
They also posted a video as proof that the song was created in February 2025.
It is noted that except for the title and the visuals, the songs themselves have nothing in common.
Meanwhile, Xu Minghao’s side has yet to issue an official response, and neither studio has released a formal statement.
