Tin Kai Man recently dismissed the notion that Stephen Chow had ignored the recent reunion dinner held by the cast of “Shaolin Soccer”, when the fact was that the filmmaker had actually held another reunion for everyone.
The actor shared this piece of information with the media recently, saying that everyone had been planning to have a get-together for a while, as this year marked the 25th anniversary of “Shaolin Soccer,” the 84th birthday of co-star Wong Yat-fei, and the 51st birthday of Danny Chan.
He said that though Stephen was unable to attend the gathering due to his promotional activities for “Kung Fu Soccer,” the comedy auteur actually took the initiative to organise a reunion, personally paying for a dinner for all the old friends from “Shaolin Soccer” two days later.
Tin said that during that dinner, Stephen was completely down-to-earth, asking each of his former brothers about their work and health. He even offered to help them find jobs and make a living.
When asked by reporters if this was just a casual remark, Tin responded, “He will definitely do it. His sentimentality is truly admirable,” and jokingly added, “Just don’t try to get [him to invest his money], lest you end up with a bad experience.”
Tin said that Stephen might have taken this to heart since the passing of his frequent collaborator Ng Man Tat and “wants to get together more often while everyone is still healthy and together,” instead of waiting until someone is gone before he thinks of it.
He also stressed that there is no discord at all between him and Stephen as previously rumoured.
