Mui Kai Ming was revealed to have had to be sent to the hospital after experiencing a spike in his blood pressure over news of his mother’s “secret” cremation.
The 74-year-old, who is the eldest brother of the late Anita Mui, became agitated when asked about the low-key funeral that he was unaware of in another interview at Sai Wan Ho Ferry Pier, following the earlier meeting with the media about the issue.
This comes after news broke on 20 September that Mother Mui’s funeral had been held quietly, with her body cremated at the Fu Shan Crematorium in Tai Wai. Mui had earlier expressed shock at being left out of the arrangements, saying he had “absolutely no idea,” and had previously threatened to seek a court injunction to stop the cremation. He has also vowed to sue his nephew for what he called “murder,” and to take legal action against the police over their handling of his mother’s belongings.
It was reported that an ambulance was called to take Mui to a hospital, after he appeared to be disoriented and repeatedly said, “Mum, hurry up and leave. The devil is burning you!”
He was revealed to have been discharged at 4AM the next day after undergoing medical examinations at the hospital with no serious physical problem. However, Mui had since declined to speak about the topic.
On the other hand, Mother Mui’s good friend Poon Siu Man confirmed that the funeral was completed on 20 September. She revealed that Mother Mui’s final wish was for her funeral arrangements to be handled quietly and that she did not want to see her eldest son Mui Kai Ming, which was why he was not informed. Only some close family members and close friends were present to bid Mother Mui farewell in a peaceful setting, just as she had wanted.
