Michelle Wai has won another Best Actress for her performance in “The Last Dance,” this time at the 38th Hundred Flowers Awards.
The actress, who attended the ceremony on 9 August in Beijing, won by a landslide after defeating competitors like Gao Ye and Song Jia with 51 votes.
Thanking the judges and audiences for the support, she quoted a line from the movie, saying, “Since we’ve boarded this ride called life, let’s enjoy the scenery along the way and chat with those beside us, that’s what makes the journey worthwhile.”
Speaking to the media at the red carpet prior to the event, the actress, who underwent surgery on her mouth following a filming mishap earlier, said that she is now fully back to work.
“My wound hasn’t fully healed yet. Since I just had my stitches removed, I can’t wear makeup for the next few days. I can’t wear makeup on the wound, and I need to avoid certain foods, especially dark-coloured ones. I can’t make any big movements when I talk. I can talk normally, but I can’t laugh loudly,” she said.
Michelle said that there will definitely be some scarring, but she will gradually undergo different treatments.
“Luckily, my husband can help me follow up on the subsequent treatments,” she added.
