Junya Ikeda, who has been convicted in a special fraud case, recently wrote a letter to his fans to update his current situation, nearly two years into his sentence.

Sharing the handwritten letter on X, the actor said that he isn’t exactly doing great, but somehow manage to get through each day.

“I used to think that three years, or even a thousand years, would pass in the blink of an eye, but life here is much tougher than I imagined. It’s disheartening. However, I think my way of thinking has changed a little,” he said.

Junya stated that while he used to be victim-minded, he now believes that no matter what the circumstances were, no matter what the background was, he should deeply reflect and apologise.

“To everyone I have inconvenienced because of this incident, to those whose trust I have betrayed, and above all, to those who have suffered, I offer my deepest apologies. I am truly sorry. I am reflecting deeply and deeply regretting my actions. This crime may never disappear, but I will do my best to earn even a little bit of acknowledgment,” he expressed.

He also asked his fans to write to him, admitting that loneliness is painful.

“Even just a brief update on what I’ve been up to, no content at all, short or long, of course, it’s all fine, I just want to read a letter from you right now. For those of you who have already written one, please write one more if possible…” he added, even sharing his address and his real name, Shimogaito Jun.

It was back in 2023 that Junya was arrested for allegedly impersonating a police officer to defraud an old man to giving him his cash cards. It was found that he had withdrawn JPY 1.5 million from the victim’s bank account.
