One of K-pop and K-drama’s most beloved couples has officially parted ways. Actor Jung Kyung-ho and Girls’ Generation member-turned-actress Sooyoung have ended their relationship, with their agencies confirming the news on 9 June.
Sooyoung’s agency, Saram Entertainment, released a brief statement confirming the split, adding that the two have agreed to remain on good terms as colleagues. Jung Kyung-ho’s agency, Management Allum, similarly confirmed the breakup, noting that further details would not be shared out of respect for their privacy.
The pair first began dating in September 2012, later going public with their relationship in January 2014. Over the years, they became something of a gold standard for celebrity couples in South Korea. They regularly mentioned each other in interviews and never shying away from expressing their affection openly.
Reports suggest the two gradually drifted apart due to increasingly hectic schedules. Fans had caught wind of the split earlier, after noticing the pair were no longer following each other on social media.
