Celebrities recently took to social media to mourn the loss of actor and theatre icon Chung King Fai (aka King Sir), who passed away on 3 June.
On the same day that his passing was announced, Anthony Wong took to social media and posted, “King Sir, we will always miss you with heavy hearts, remember your teachings, and continue to strive forward on the path of drama. In memory of the eternal teacher who had nurtured countless students.”
Louise Lee, who regarded Chung King Fai as her mentor, expressed, “He was a teacher I greatly admired. He was focused and serious in his work, and patiently taught actors. He was a true master of drama. In my career, I was most fortunate to have met such a good teacher. I will always remember and admire him!”
Wayne Lai, who co-starred with Chung in “Come Home Love: Dinner at 8” said, “It’s really a pity. I hope he rests in peace.”
Meanwhile, Wong Cho Lam posted a photo of himself wearing a graduation gown with Chung when he graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
He posted, “He returned to Hong Kong with profound knowledge and pure ideals, and founded the TVB Artist Training Class and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Drama School, unprecedentedly providing professional and systematic education and training for drama talents. From then on, ‘outliers’ from different families and environments who loved drama were like entering the school of X-Men, finally having books to read, dreams to pursue, classmates to find, and kindred spirits! Among them were myself and my fellow students.”
“King Sir, we thank you! King Sir, we miss you! May you continue to play the roles you love and continue to pursue your dreams on the stage in heaven!” he added.
Chung passed away in his sleep on 3 June at the age of 89.
