Hey! Say! JUMP’s Ryosuke Yamada is set to star in the upcoming drama “Ichijigen no Sashiki”, which will begin airing in July.

The drama is based on the award-winning novel “Labyrinth of Hortensia and the Minotaur” by Ryunosuke Matsushita, which has sold over 650,000 copies since its release.

The drama follows Haruka Nanase, a graduate student who becomes caught up in a mystery that begins when the DNA of a 200-year-old human skeleton discovered in the Himalayas matches that of his stepsister who went missing four years ago.

When asked about his feelings upon hearing the offer to appear in the drama, Yamada commented, “When I read the script, which described a desire to explore himself, I thought, ‘What would happen if Ryosuke Yamada, who has met many different people and absorbed many different things throughout his life, were to play Nanase?’ I felt that, and decided to accept the offer.”

“I’m glad that I can take on this role at this age, after having gone through these life experiences,” he added.

Yamada, who also turned 33 this month, said that he is off to a good start what with the drama offer and his upcoming first solo dome tour.

“I want to keep this momentum going and continue running forward,” he said.
