Britney Spears has successfully avoided jail time after pleading guilty to reckless driving, and is now facing a year of probation.
The former pop princess, who didn’t attend court for her DUI case on 4 May, was represented by lawyer Michael A. Goldstein, who stated that Britney agreed to a plea called “wet reckless” for the previous incident that occurred in March.
A “wet reckless” is a negotiated plea bargain in some US states including California, where a misdemeanour DUI charge is reduced to reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs.
In a previous statement, Britney’s rep stated, “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.”
“Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time. Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”
Britney was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol by the Ventura County in late April.
