Amid the criticisms over the choice of casting for the Hong Kong version of “Long Vacation,” Anson Kong recently stated that he is not paying any attention to such discussion.

The MIRROR member, who spoke to the media at a thank-you event for the movie “We’re Nothing at All,” stated that he hadn’t paid attention to the reports at all, but anticipated that remaking a classic drama would inevitably lead to comparisons between the old and new actors’ performances.

“I won’t pay too much attention to that. I’ll just do my job and play my role well. I’m grateful to be a part of it,” he said.

Anson, who will be playing the Hong Kong version of the character Hayama Shinji (originally played by heartthrob Yutaka Takenouchi), continued, “Having read the original, I believe it’s difficult to surpass. I will reinterpret it in my own way, with no intention of imitation.”

Previously, fans of the original Japanese drama criticised the casting of Edan Lui in the lead for the Hong Kong version of the movie. It is noted that the lead actress for the project is Ali Lee.
