TVB has recently denied reports that it is taking over its artistes’ social media accounts in order to prevent public relation disasters.

Earlier, it was reported that TVB, in order to strengthen the management of its artistes’ image, has mandated that all artistes hand over their social media accounts and passwords, including Instagram, Facebook, and Red Note, which will then be “centrally managed” by the company.

It is understood that the new term also stipulates that even after an artiste’s contract expires, their social media accounts will still be managed by TVB for one year.

Reportedly, some artistes have expressed concern about their lives being monitored, with a few of them refusing to cooperate with the new policy.

In response to the reports, TVB has issued a statement, saying that it has always respected the personal privacy, legal rights, and professional development needs of its artistes.

“The reports described the company’s cooperation with artistes regarding social media platforms as the company forcing all artistes to hand over their personal social media accounts for central management. This statement is inaccurate and does not reflect the actual situation. Communication between the company and artistes regarding social media platforms mainly involves programme promotion, content collaboration, advertising cooperation, and related operational arrangements, and has always been based on legality, compliance, and mutual respect.”
