AKB48’s Maho Omori has recently announced that she is graduating from the group.

The 26-year-old shared the news on AKB48’s official blog, writing, “It’s been about eight years since I joined my beloved AKB48 as a third-generation draft member at the age of 18. I’ve been able to experience so many things that I wouldn’t have been able to experience in a normal life, and above all, I’m really happy that I was able to be selected for seven consecutive singles.”

“There were many things I wasn’t good at, and I experienced many setbacks during my time in the group, and I thought about graduating many times, but this time I felt that I had done my best in my AKB48 life without any regrets, so I decided to graduate,” she added.

Her graduation performance will be held on 30 June, after which she will retire from the entertainment industry.

“I thought about it a lot and worried a lot, but I have decided to retire from the entertainment industry and walk a new path as an individual,” she added in her post.

Nicknamed Mahopyon, the singer joined the 2017 member draft pool in 2017 and was transferred to AKB48’s new formation in October 2023.
