Kara Hui is adamant with her decision to no longer do action films, now that she is in her late 60s.

The actress, who spoke to the media at the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony on 22 March, said that even if someone she respects or dear to her ask her to do it, she will have to decline.

“My skills are not what they used to be. I have already turned down many offers in recent years. I don’t want to ruin my reputation,” she said.

It is noted that back in 2017, Kara, who had filmed action and martial arts films since she was 17, had expressed similar sentiment, saying that she had sustained at least a hundred injuries while filming action scenes.

Last year, while serving as a judge on the mainland variety show “Everybody Stand By,” she recounted how she was covered in injuries from filming action scenes; with her mouth, eye, and cheekbones broken by hard objects, resulting in a total of 89 stitches on her face.
