Chen Zheyuan recently received the new moniker of China showbiz’s “god of wealth,” after deciding to distribute red envelopes totalling RMB 150,000.

The actor did so via Weibo on the eve of the Lunar New Year, distributing the red envelopes online for fans to grab, attracting widespread attention from fans and netizens alike.

Other stars who did the same thing include Ju Jingyi and Bai Lu. The latter even commented on Chen’s Weibo, calling him the “god of wealth”.

In response, the actor promoted Bai Lu’s new drama, “The Mystery of Tang Palace”.

It has been a tradition for Chinese celebrities to give out red envelopes on Weibo every year. Chen’s red envelope distribution method attracted the most attention as it was open to all, with no entry requirements, as long as they entered the password “Happy Year of the Horse”.
