It looks like departing from TVB has brought some fortune for Ali Lee, as she is now nominated in the Best New Performer category at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
The actress, who spoke to the media following the nomination announcement on 10 February, admitted that she was surprised to find out she has been nominated for her performance in Louis Cheung-starrer, “Golden Boy”.
“I really didn’t expect it at all, because I remember when I was filming at my old company, I was working day and night. In ‘Golden Boy,’ I only appeared in Ah Chung’s flashback scenes, so my role was very small,” she said.
“Back then, there wasn’t even time to warm up, and I couldn’t even preview how the scenes before and after should be played. As soon as I arrived, we had to start filming right away. So being nominated really came as a huge surprise,” she added.
Ali will be competing with Elizabeth Tang (Girlfriends), Chau Tsz-yuet (Pass and Goal), Kuku So Tsz-yan (For Alice) and Li Zhekun (The Shadow’s Edge).
