Being the most beloved actress in China doesn’t mean you are invincible from criticisms, as Zhao Lusi recently had to experience after a rendition of Khalil Fong’s “Special Person” invited backlash from many.
During one of her recent livestreams, the Chinese singer-actress held her water bottle as if it was a microphone and entertained fans by singing the song. While she initially sang the song normally, she gradually let herself loose and began to use exaggerated expressions, making it a lighthearted performance.

While fans loved the interaction, many of Khalil Fong’s fans were annoyed by it, especially since the song is one of their most cherished songs from the late singer.
“Why joke about a deceased singer’s sentimental song?” asked one commenter.
Another posted, “She can sing however she wants in private, but when she is livestreaming, she should be more careful and respectful of her actions.”
Meanwhile, fans of the actress defended her, saying that Lusi was just trying to cheer everybody up and that it was not at all a mockery.
“Using the dead to cyberbully others. Who is disrespectful right now?” said a fan.
