He might not have new big screen work anytime soon, but Chow Yun Fat may be able to make more money training people for marathon.
That’s the joke the legendary actor made recently, after he successfully converted several veteran stars into runners at the recent Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2026, from Edwin Siu and Priscilla Wong, to 70-something stars like Kent Cheng, Nina Paw and Lau Kong.
The group even crossed the finish line in a grand procession, receiving cheers from the crowd.

Chow Yun Fat praised his “students” for their excellent condition, jokingly adding that he and his “older” runners are several hundred years apart, hoping to encourage seniors to exercise more.
“I hope I can recruit more and more people, charging each person 20,000 yuan a month in membership fees. There were more than 20 people today, so the amount is very tight. I can’t run without pocket money,” he said, lightheartedly.
When asked if he has plans to make his acting comeback to help revive the Hong Kong film industry, the actor laughed and said that relying on him alone wouldn’t save much.
Regarding rumours of his high fees, he said, “Nobody’s offering me roles, so how would I know I charge high fees? I’ve switched careers to teaching running.”
