Behind his playful attitude, not many people know that Huang Zitao had faced the risk of death when he was just a little child.
In a recent appearance on a variety show, the former EXO member shared that he had a major accident while learning martial arts when he was six years old, which caused a brain haemorrhage.
He said that after evaluation, the medical team decided to immediately carry out high-risk craniotomy which resulted in 43 stitches in his head. The whole process was a race against time, and the situation was quite critical at one point.

Tao recalled that the doctor frankly told his family that if he had been taken to the hospital a few minutes later, the consequences would have been unimaginable. At best, he would have suffered permanent issues such as intellectual impairment, and at worst, he might have been in a vegetative state.
The singer said that the doctor’s words made him feel lingering fear every time he thought about them as he was growing up, and he cherished every day that he could stand on the stage and live a healthy life.
He said that because he had experienced the brink of death at a young age, he knows better how to cherish the present and is not easily defeated by setbacks.
