Park Chan-wook recently revealed that he is glad that he couldn’t get American investors for his movie, “No Other Choice,” as it enabled him to work with great South Korean actors instead.
The award-winning filmmaker, who adapted the film from the Donald Westlake novel, “The Ax,” said that he had no other choice but to change the movie into Korean after Hollywood said no to the project.
“Thanks to that decision, I was able to work with such great actors, so I really view it as a blessing today,” he said. “In the credits, when you see the special thanks section, I almost considered putting in the American studios that turned me down but I didn’t.”
It is noted that the film has also been submitted for the Oscar’s Best International Film.
On the other hand, Park said that he is currently trying to get investors again for two potential American films, including a sci-fi action movie.
Asked if there is a Korean movie in the making, he said, “I haven’t had enough time because of this promotional tour so I need to spend a lot of time working on that next.”
