Maggie Cheung has recently dedicated a short video on RedNote for good friend Anita Mui, whom she worked with in several movies in the past.
On 10 October, which is also Anita’s birthday, the legendary Hong Kong actress commemorated the Hong Kong icon’s passing by sharing some anecdotes about their friendship that started when she met Anita while filming her second film, “Behind the Yellow Line” in 1984.
“From the very beginning, I discovered she was generous, forthright, straightforward, and clear about her likes and dislikes. It was an honour to have the opportunity to work with her and become a true friend,” she said.
Maggie shared that though Anita was only a year older, she has always considered her an older sister.

Maggie also revisited many of the moments they’d shared, and while reflecting on Anita’s various looks and performances, she reaffirmed her versatility and her constant push for breakthroughs, saying that Anita’s talent truly is irreplaceable.
Maggie revealed that her only regret about being friends with Anita was that they didn’t have a formal farewell before her death.
“I remember the last time we met, she hugged me and said, ‘Maggie, you must come to my birthday party this year’. Unfortunately, I had left Hong Kong for work and could not come back to attend. I really couldn’t imagine that at that time, it would be my last chance to see her,” she lamented.
