Competing again against actress Alice Ko for Best Actress at the upcoming Golden Bell Awards, Cheryl Yang said that she considered it “fate” instead of “rivalry”.
The actress, who is nominated for her role in “Born for the Spotlight” along with her two co-stars Suri Lin and Hsieh Ying-xuan, will face Alice, who is nominated for “I Am Married… But!” and Ning Chang for “The Outlaw Doctor”.
She stated that it is an honour to compete against Alice again for the Best Actress award, saying they became close because of their mutual friends. After the nominations were announced, Alice even sent her a message inviting her out to celebrate.
“I said of course I’ll go! Let’s go!” she enthused.
Regarding reports painting her and Alice as rivals, Cheryl said, “Please don’t do that. We’re all working very hard to portray each role to the best of our abilities.”
She added that seeing fans argue online over the competition is not something either of them wants, and she hopes people can stay rational.
The two stars had competed for the Best Actress category in 2020 at the said awards, with Alice winning the coveted title for “Someday or One Day”.
