EXILE’s AKIRA recently admitted the joy of being married to Lin Chi-ling, saying that they hardly argue with each other throughout their marriage.
In a rare appearance on the Japanese variety show “Gobu Gobu”, the singer was asked about the challenges of marrying a foreigner, to which he said, “Actually, my foreign wife is very nice. Japanese people tend to be more cautious and beat around the bush, but foreigners are very direct and say whatever they want to say. I really like this direct communication.”
He also stated that he and Lin rarely argue although Lin is able to communicate in Japanese.
As to their daily interaction, AKIRA said that they switch languages based on where they are, giving an example on how they speak Chinese when they are in Taiwan.
“I am slowly memorising words every day, learning bit by bit,” he said of his Mandarin.
AKIRA also shared how he fell for Lin, saying that it all started when they collaborated on a stage play in 2011.
The singer said that his weight plummeted due to a previous surgery, and that Lin thoughtfully sent him daily nutritional drinks. However, despite falling for her kindness, AKIRA said that they didn’t develop any romantic relationship at the time due to their busy work schedules.
