Waa Wei has sparked backlash after finally confirming that she is indeed dating social media influencer Raewyn’s boyfriend, Ian.
Earlier, Raewyn had revealed that she and Ian were having an issue and that the two are in a cooling-off period, following several posts she made and then deleted about being broken-hearted.
This includes her indirectly calling out Waa Wei, suggesting that the singer may have interfered in their relationship, sparking massive online speculation and debate.
Waa Wei’s manager immediately responded by saying that Raewyn herself has clarified the situation.
On 27 July, Raewyn confirmed that she and Ian have broken up, adding, “He now appears on someone else’s social media feed.”
However, on 28 July, tabloids published several photos of Waa Wei and Ian holding hands at an art exhibition in Jiufen. She was also seen leaning her head and body close against Ian.
In response to the media reports, Waa Wei once again responded through her manager, that she is indeed in a relationship.
“Both parties were single when they started dating. This is not a secret, and there’s nothing being hidden. Regarding the speculation online, she understands the emotions behind it, but she did not interfere in anyone’s relationship and never intended to hurt anyone. Thank you for your concern. We kindly ask everyone to give the artiste more personal space moving forward.”
However, it did not help in quelling the backlash, especially since Ian is only 21. Many commented that Waa Wei, who is 42, is old enough to be his mother and had since gone to her social media account to leave scathing remarks about her.
