It is hard being a son of an already popular actor, and harder when the Internet thinks you look older than your father.

But according to Joe Ma, his eldest son actor Xiang Ma is not at all affected by the criticism against him and his supposed “more mature” features. The comments first came in after the teaser of their new series came out.

“There will always be positive and negative voices in the outside world. If you care too much, it will be difficult to get through it. This is a very good experience for him. It helps him understand how we’ve endured years of negativity,” he said.

At the same time, Joe is happy to be able to work with Xiang Ma in the same drama, “The Kwoks and What”, though the two of them will play the same role in different eras.

The drama tells the story of an elderly mother (Nina Paw) who, on the eve of her 70th birthday, discovers that her three children are each facing their own struggles. Determined to support her children, she is suddenly confronted by a new problem; a gangster (played by Eddie Kwan) claiming to own half of the family’s assets.
