Zanilia Zhao is elated to show off the Hayao Miyazaki illustrations that she got from the animation maestro himself for her work on “Princess Mononoke”.
Earlier, it was revealed that the actress has been cast to voice the character of San, the human girl raised by wolves, in the said movie that will be released on China’s big screen for the first time since the film’s release in 1997.
The three illustrations, which include a drawing of San and another of Prince Ashitaka, were shared by Zanilia on Weibo, where she wrote, “The forest nurtured her, and now it’s her turn to protect the forest! Thanks to Grandpa Miyazaki and Grandpa Suzuki for the gift.”
“See you in theatres on May 1st,” she added.

Netizens flocked to the comment section to express their congratulations and support, with one saying, “Sister, congratulations on getting Grandpa Hayao Miyazaki’s autograph.”
Another posted, “I’m really looking forward for the dubbing this time.”
Previously, the Ghibli casting team revealed their reason for choosing Zanilia, saying, “What we need is a soul that can convey a ‘sense of wildness’, rather than a technically perfect voice actor.”
