Organised by Thousands of Years Media (ToYm), the Shining Star Idol Competition concluded with a dazzling showcase of emerging talent at Kuala Lumpur’s Andaman Grand Ballroom.

17-year-old Ooi Tianjia claimed the Male Idol Champion title with his versatile performance – beginning with an emotional self-composed ballad on guitar before transitioning into a high-energy rendition of “Billie Jean” featuring Latin dance elements. His remarkable combination of vocal talent, musicality, and commanding stage presence earned him RM30,000, a ToYm talent contract and a limited-edition trophy.

In the Female Idol category, 23-year-old Ng Xin Yi emerged as the night’s biggest winner, capturing both the Female Idol Champion and Most Popular Award titles. Her precise and powerful modern dance routine, delivered with a radiant stage presence and confident smile, impressed judges and audiences alike. Ng took home a combined RM40,000 in cash prizes, along with a talent contract and trophy.

The competition featured 24 finalists divided into four groups, each contestant completing three challenging segments: a talent showcase, group dramatic performance, and impromptu Q&A. Contestants began with brief self-introduction videos, followed by two-minute solo talent performances and a fast-paced “Golden 10 Seconds” audience appeal segment.

Each group also collaborated on a 10-minute dramatic skit, showcasing their acting abilities and teamwork. Emcees Owen Yap and Chrystina Ng conducted live interviews to evaluate contestants’ composure and quick thinking.

The 1st Runner-Up titles went to Aeron Jeszel Iskandar (Male) and Sherlyn Poh (Female), each receiving RM20,000 in cash, a ToYm talent contract, and a trophy. Chee Lim Peng and Bell (Nabila Balqis) were awarded 2nd Runner-Up, taking home RM15,000, a talent contract, and a trophy.

Three Consolation Award winners were recognised in each category, each receiving RM5,000, a ToYm talent contract, and a trophy. In the Male Idol category, the recipients were Iyad Sanim, Lee Yee Keat (Purple YK) – who also won the Best Talent Award worth RM10,000 – and Kayson Loh Zhong Kai, who claimed the Most Popular Social Media Personality Award (RM10,000). For the Female Idol category, the awardees were Jennifer Ong Wei Ying, Carmen Lee Jia, and Charmaine Chan Yun Xuan.

The evening featured a special performance by trilingual singer Fatimah Noryyah, ToYm’s first promoted artiste, who performed “Gemilang,” “Jumping Machine,” and “This Is Me,” concluding with a powerful message of self-belief.

The competition ended with a vibrant celebration of all finalists, highlighting the bright future of Malaysia’s creative landscape driven by local talent and original content.
