Ten of Taiwan’s most beloved character brands will make their first collective appearance in Malaysia at the Taiwan IP EXPO, a 5-day showcase of creative storytelling, licensing opportunities, and cultural exchange.

The event is set to run from 29 May to 2 June 2025 at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall, hosted by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) with support from Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the Malaysia Creative Intellectual Property Association (MYCIP) and one of Malaysia’s leading Intellectual Property (IP) Management Companies – M&M Creations Holdings Sdn. Bhd.

Among the original Taiwanese IPs are Bugcat Capoo, JIMMY LIAO-The Moon Forgets, Mr. Shark, Barkley The Cat, Kuroro Space Exploration Team, doudle studio, Kittenisland, LUSASA, Ugly Rabbit, and VeryMissRabbit.

This marks the first large-scale introduction of these popular characters to the Malaysian market. Visitors will be able to interact with mascots, take part in photo opportunities, explore immersive exhibits, and purchase exclusive merchandise. At the same time, a dedicated business matching programme will connect Malaysian retailers, SMEs, and brand managers with Taiwanese IP owners to discuss licensing, co-branding, and creative partnerships.

The Taiwan IP EXPO presents a rare opportunity to explore some of Taiwan’s most captivating intellectual properties, each distinguished by unique storytelling styles – from warm and healing to humorous and fantastical. This include Bugcat Capoo, which with its quirky and cute concept, has become a hugely popular IP boasting nearly two million fans and inspiring over 2,000 licensed products, making it a favorite among businesses.

Meanwhile, Kuroro Space Exploration Team offers a cat’s-eye view of Earth, with children’s books licensed in Japanese, Thai, and Korean, and through a recent partnership with Kinokuniya Bookstore, now distributed across Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia.

The Taiwan IP EXPO also reflects a larger strategy by TAICCA to grow Taiwan’s cultural exports and creative economy through global engagement.
