Celebrity chef Baek Jong-won recently announced that he will withdraw from the entertainment industry to focus on his food franchise business following previous controversies.

The chef, who issued his third public apology via YouTube since the issue sparked last month, said that he will cancel all TV show plans except the ones already in production, and will now dedicate all his passion and energy solely to the growth of his brand, TheBorn Korea, “not as a TV personality but as an entrepreneur.”

Baek added that he would do his utmost to restore the company’s trust and to expand into the global market.

It is noted that his brands have been criticised recently for misleading consumers regarding the origin of its ingredients as well as other food safety-related violations.

“All of the problems stem from my own shortcomings. I will make 2025 a new beginning for TheBorn Korea, our second foundation year, to be completely reborn,” he added.

At the same time, Baek said that he is most sorry about the situation of franchise owners.

“Immediately after preparing emergency support measures, I am visiting the sites to hear the voices of the franchise owners directly. In the process of working together with the owners, I have made a commitment that “from now on, we will not leave even one owner behind.”
