The family of the late Teresa Teng has recently lashed out against old rumours resurfacing yet again close to the 30th anniversary of her passing.
Old rumours have now resurfaced and circulated online that Teresa and old flame Jackie Chan may have an illegitimate child, and that the said child has already received substantial inheritance after acknowledging Jackie as his father.
In response, Teresa’s family issued a firm denial in an interview, strongly condemning such claims as a grave insult to Teresa, and did not rule out taking legal action.
Brother Teng Changfu revealed that he was contacted by a paparazzo two months ago about the matter and has already told the person that the rumours were baseless. However, the story still made it out to the public.
“It’s utterly ridiculous. Miss Teng will have been gone for 30 years next month. Why are people still making up such nonsense? I swear on my life that this is completely untrue!” he said.
Saying that Teresa would have been pregnant at one point in her life if she did have a secret child, he added, “May I ask, has anyone ever seen or captured a photo of Miss Teresa Teng being pregnant? This is simply an insult to the family and to the deceased. If anyone continues to spread false information using specific names, we will definitely take legal action.”

Jackie previously wrote in his 2002 autobiography about his short-lived relationship with the singer, blaming himself for his ego and rough behaviour for the end of their romance. He revealed that Teresa called him several days before her passing in 1995 but that he missed her calls and forgot to call her back.
The actor admitted that the regret he had of not picking up her calls was the reason why he has now developed a habit of immediately answering calls.
