The fate of Darren Wang’s movies and TV series are now in question, after the actor was embroiled in two scandals back-to-back.
The Taiwanese heartthrob, who was entangled in a military evasion scandal last month, recently sparked another controversy after he was arrested for “attempted murder”. This exposes him to the Chinese censorship authority, which could list him as a bad artiste and therefore ban all of his works.
It is noted that Darren currently has five new acting projects that have yet to be released. These are movies, “The Sichuan Culinary Chronicles in Four Chapters” and “Unforgiven”, and TV series “Faith & Law”, “Quiet Among Disquiet”, and “Jiwu”.
“Quiet Among Disquiet” was completed at the end of May 2020 and has yet to be broadcasted. The Hong Kong crime film, “Unforgiven” has not yet started filming, while the artistic film “The Sichuan Culinary Chronicles in Four Chapters” is currently filming.
If Darren is convicted, the productions may have to face the problem of replacing actors and reshooting the project with additional budget.
On the other hand, his reality show, “Ai’s Kitchen”, will be having a second season soon. When asked about it, the producers stated, “The second season was supposed to start filming, but it was postponed for some reason. The cast is still being considered and his participation has not been discussed yet.”
