Although it was Darren Wang who is being investigated for attempted murder, it looks like actor Cheney Chen is the unlucky one in this story as he is now indirectly affected by the situation.
How? By having a show with the Taiwanese actor.
It was revealed that Cheney is also a part of the reality show, “Not A Loner”, which has Darren as one of the cast members. If Darren is to be listed as an “immoral artiste”, his shows and movies may get banned in China, and this could include the said Youku show as well.
Cheney already had many of his works removed from viewing in the past few years, but not of his own doing.
His film “Tiny Times” was previously shelved because of Kai Ko’s drug issue in 2014. His film “L.O.R.D: Legend of Ravaging Dynasties” also faced similar problem due to Fan Bingbing’s tax evasion scandal.
His drama, “Rush to the Dead Summer” had an issue because of Zheng Shuang’s surrogacy scandal, and his 2016 drama series, “Decoded” had Zhang Zhehan who faced severe criticisms after taking photos near the Yasukuni Shrine and Nogi Shrine that honour imperial Japanese military officers who invaded China.
The recurring pattern of Cheney’s projects being compromised by his co-stars’ actions has become a hot topic on Weibo, where users are expressing sympathy for his unfortunate situations. One commenter aptly summed it up by asking, “How can a person be so unlucky?”
