Wakana Matsumoto recently announced that she will be starring in the live-action adaptation of the hit manga, “Dr. Ashura”.

Sharing the good news on social media on 26 February with the first look of her in character, the 41-year-old actress posted, “I will be playing the lead role of Shura Anno in the Fuji TV Wednesday 10pm drama ‘Dr. Ashura’.”

“As a life-saving doctor, she has an abnormal obsession with patients in extreme situations and will stop at nothing to save their lives. Please enjoy the story of Shura and the unique characters who face the challenge of saving lives,” she added.

The original manga is created by Ryo Koshino and was published in Weekly Manga Goraku magazine from 2015 to 2016.

Wakana herself is no stranger to starring in live-adaptations, with her latest one being 2024’s “Cells at Work!”, where she plays the role of Macrophage.
