Darren Wang was revealed to be one of the 10 people who were arrested on 18 February for suspicion of evading military service and forging documents.
Taiwan’s media news outlets reported that the actor has been taken into custody for further investigation by police officers around 9AM of the said date, bringing with them a search and detention warrant.
Aside from his detention, relevant evidence was also said to have been seized from the actor’s home in Taipei.
It is noted that the actor, who rose to fame for the 2015 rom com, “Our Times”, had told the media during a press conference of the movie that he has no issue serving the military.
“I am still so young, so there is no need to evade the service. When the time comes, I will do it,” he was quoted saying.
It is noted that the conscription age in Taiwan is between 18 to 36 years old. Darren is now 33.
